The Comporta Tour starts by crossing Tagus River on the marvelous 25th April Bridge. The 25th April Bridge is a suspension bridge that is often compared to San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge due to their similarities. At the end of the bridge, you will pass by the giant Christ the King Statue erected to express gratitude because the Portuguese were spared the terrible effects of World War II.
Part II
We will now head to Setubal to catch the Ferry Boat. This boat trip on our way to Tróia peninsula is an opportunity to have a marvelous view and admire the beauty of the natural reserve of Sado estuary as well Arrábida Mountain. If you are lucky, you can even see Sado Dolphins that are resident on those waters.
Part III
After reaching the peninsula we will pass by Tróia on our way to “Cavalos na Areia”. It’s time to head to the stables and choose your horse and get ready for a superb adventure. Here you and your horse will run the sandy Atlantic coast as far as the eye can see in a one-hour horse riding experience. And what better way to escape from stress than a gallop with your horse feeling the Atlantic Ocean breeze on your hair along an endless beach licked by the ocean waves?
Part IV
After this memorable horse riding experience, it will be time to stop for lunch. We suggest that you enjoy delicious fresh grilled fish and fresh seafood Comporta has to offer. We will recommend restaurants that we consider the best experience for our customers in quality and price-wise. However, if you prefer to bring your own food it’s completely fine. We will park the Defender in a sweet spot so you can enjoy your meal with a great view.
Part V
Time to explore the hippy-chic Comporta Village. Comporta is a picturesque small village situated between the blue ocean, white sand dunes, green rice paddies and pine trees. Celebrities from all over the world come to Comporta to spend laidback vacations in a calm place where no one will find them swapping from High Heels to Flip Flops and from busy avenues to calm peaceful streets with marvelous stork nests on the traditional chimneys. It has been compared as the St-Tropez in the ‘70s, Ibiza in the ’80s, or the Hamptons in the ’90s, but Comporta has a rhythm and an ambience that are all its own. It’s like a forgotten oasis, a well-kept secret, a paradise that it’s still to discover by the masses. Here you will find an authentic Portuguese village where tradition and simplicity reign.
Part VI
Now you will have some free time to enjoy and discover Comporta Beach. You can go take a swim on the crystal-clear waters, have a sunbath or just take a fresh drink in one of the trendy and chic beach bars.
