Part I
The Arrábida Tour starts by crossing Tagus River on the marvelous 25th April Bridge. The 25th April Bridge is a suspension bridge that is often compared to San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge due to their similarities. At the end of the bridge, you will pass by the giant Christ the King Statue erected to express gratitude because the Portuguese were spared the terrible effects of World War II.
Part II
We will head now to Albufeira Lagoon. This lagoon is separated from the sea by enormous dunes. This is a place of unique beauty, combining the purity of the ocean, with the lagoon waters and extensive pine tree fields. The lagoon offers great conditions for the practice of sport fishing, sailing or windsurf.
Part III
It’s now time to go to Cape Espichel. Cape Espichel is located at the westernmost point of the coast of Sesimbra and combines the monumentality of the building with the immateriality of religious devotion and unique wild beauty. This monument is located on a plateau that ends in majestic cliffs onto the sea making it monumental.
Part IV
The next stop will be the national monument Sesimbra Castle. This medieval castle stands in a dominant position on a cliff and visitors can walk through the walls and enjoy a privileged view over picturesque fishing villages of Sesimbra and the sea. After enjoying this wonderful view, we will descend to Sesimbra to explore it. Sesimbra is famous for the lovely beaches, fresh fish and turquoise waters.
Part V
Time for lunch. We suggest that you enjoy the fresh seafood Sesimbra has to offer. We will recommend restaurants that we consider the best experience for our customers in quality and price-wise. However, if you prefer to bring your own food it’s completely fine. We will park the Defender in a sweet spot so you can enjoy your meal with a great view.
Part VI
After lunch, we will head into the Blue Coast where we will drive on a marvelous coastal road inside Arrábida Mountain integrated in the protected area of Arrábida Natural Park. Here you will find a very rich Mediterranean fauna & flora, dense vegetation, amazing beaches and an endless blue ocean. One of this beaches is called Galapinhos and has won the award of the most beautiful beach in Europe. During this part of the tour, you can take memorable photos at the viewpoint spot with stunning views over Troia Peninsula and the sea. Arrábida has an incomparable natural beauty mixing the turquoise colors of the ocean with dense green vegetation and white tones of the cliffs.
